Midwifery
Our midwives are here to journey with you. Our services are undergoing some changes, to allow your families to be more comprehensively supported during pregnancy and the weeks following birth. There are proven benefits of continuity of care providers during all stages of the journey to parenthood, and we look forward to getting to know your family. Midwifery continuity models are not are not a new concept, but how Kindred delivers care, and the core philosophy behind our team based model, is progressive, responsive and relative to the needs of each individual family.
Kindred is redefining the quality of how we travel the entire path of pregnancy, birth and beyond with you, and we appreciate your understanding while we strive to make necessary service improvements.
As a team, our midwives and obstetricians will provide continuity to families together, and we look forward to speaking with you about how this looks for you as an individual family.
This team-based model is based upon supportive collaboration between midwives and obstetricians with a focus on continuity of care and providing bespoke services that are unrivalled in quality.
Kindred midwifery works alongside our obstetricians to provide collaborative care. This approach allows women and families to enjoy clinical care that is relevant to them, while feeling supported by a team of like-minded midwives and obstetricians.
As part of the Kindred family, you will have access to the following services:
- phone support from a midwife from first appointment, through to six weeks after birth for general questions or concerns
- regular appointments with our team, ranging from routine check-ups to long appointments for education and planning with a known midwife
- email access for direct but non-urgent questions
- education classes
- daily visits while in hospital after birth
- comprehensive in-home postnatal visits with a known midwife
- ongoing support into parenthood with breastfeeding clinics, self-service baby weigh facilities, allocation to online group support and in-person parents’ groups.
Kindred midwives work as private clinicians and therefore all care during pregnancy and the postnatal period attracts a Medicare rebate.
